What does an audiologist do?

Audiologists are trained to specialise in providing services in all non-medical facets of hearing healthcare including specialist diagnostic assessment for General Practitioners, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists (ENT’s), and other Allied Health Professionals.

Audiologists are trained to identify and interpret problems within the hearing and balance systems and provide appropriate rehabilitation, counselling and support services, including prescription and maintenance of hearing aids and assistive listening devices.

Our Audiologist is a full accredited member of Audiology Australia who undergoes continued professional development through Audiology Australia and other professional audiological bodies to keep up to date with the latest advancements in hearing technology and hearing/balance assessment procedures.

As Accent Hearing is a member of Independent Audiologists Australia (IAA), this means that the clinic has a qualified university trained audiologist who own’s and operates their own practice.

Independent audiologists are not owned by or closely affiliated to hearing device manufacturers.

Independent audiologists provide continuity of service – you will see the same audiologist at each visit and know that the work of any employee is overseen by a qualified audiologist.

Independent audiologists do not work to sales targets or receive commission on hearing device sales.

Independent audiologist provide advice and guide your rehabilitation decisions. Full explanations will be given for all recommendations that are linked to your hearing and communication needs.

Independent audiologists will deliver professional services tailored to your needs, as shown from a comprehensive hearing assessment.

Independent audiologists can offer government funded services – for Hearing Services Program, WorkCover or WorkSafe candidates, Department of Veterans Affairs and where Medicare rebates apply.

Why go to an Independent Audiologist?

Accent Hearing is a private, independent and locally owned Australian Company, who can provide you with a full range of hearing and assisted listening devices from any manufacturer, fitted by a qualified Doctor of Audiology.

Many of the larger hearing clinics in Australia may be owned by international hearing aid manufacturers and corporations, or are affiliated with them, selling their own brands of hearing devices. Company “sales targets” can sometimes take priority over the client’s actual needs.  Accent Hearing is not restricted by these measures and can provide flexible appointment times that are timely to suit the individual. Appointments will provide continuity and be with the same fully qualified Audiologist, rather than never knowing ‘who you are going to see’.
